Licensing: Phase One is Complete!

Landmark moment!

Clover Montessori School is one step closer to opening its doors in West St. Paul! A key task when starting a new Montessori school is applying for a license from DHS. The staff at DHS does a great job of guiding applicants through the process. They offer helpful online training seminars four times a year and their website also provides a wealth of information.

Applying for a childcare center license is a three-phase process. The first phase is preparing and mailing the application. The second phase includes background studies and time to work directly with a licensor to perfect the school's facility and policies. The final phase is the best part: receiving the license!

A licensing application is complex. The application packet includes an application form, the business's organizational documents, the school's health policies, the parent handbook, a description of the educational program, the floor plans, the emergency procedures, and a comprehensive risk assessment.

The final step in preparing our application was a trip to the notary. Then? This binder went straight into the hands of the US Postal Service!

That's it! Clover Montessori School has completed Phase One of licensing! Phase Two, here we come!
